What is my ACT ID and why is it important?

If you register for an ACT National or International Test Date, we will automatically assign you an ACT ID whether or not you provided your Social Security number when you registered. If you test through any other testing program (e.g., State, Special, Arranged, Project, DANTES, or Residual), we assign an ACT ID only if you did not provide your SSN. The ACT ID is an eight-digit number beginning with a dash that is located at the top of your Student Report and also appears on the score reports we send to the high school and colleges you requested.

The ACT ID helps us identify your record if you did not provide your SSN and allows you to access and order ACT services without having to provide your SSN. You can use your ACT ID to help us identify your record if you wish to send your scores, correct information on your score reports, and create a student Web account.

As of spring 2008, if you tested through State Testing, you will be able to view your scores about a week after you receive your score report in the mail if you have or create a student Web account. You must provide the ACT ID printed on your score report to access your scores if you did not provide your SSN when you tested.

As of mid-September 2008, if you tested through Special, Arranged, Project, or DANTES Testing, you will also be able to view your scores online after you receive your score report in the mail if you have or create a student Web account. You will need to provide the ACT ID from your score report or your SSN to access your scores through this account.
